The Family Practice Health Centre at Women’s College Hospital provides care for women and men of all age groups — from newborns to the elderly. We are one of the largest clinics in Ontario, providing more than 54,000 visits per year to our patients. We have a particular focus on low-risk obstetrical care, with approximately 600 deliveries per year. We are a small, friendly and close-knit department, and we continue to be one of the busiest family medicine training units within the University of Toronto’s Department of Family and Community Medicine.

Women’s College Hospital was founded in 1883 by a group of women who, having fought for the right for admission into medical school, were still unable to obtain hospital privileges. Determined to practice medicine, they decided to open a hospital and medical school where women could practice and teach medicine while maintaining their mission to provide quality holistic care to women. The hospital is now staffed by both women and men. Its mandate has expanded to meet the needs of all patients and their families.
