DFCM recognizes and values the contribution of our faculty in teaching education and research. If you are considering applying for an external award which requires support from the Chair, please be advised that there is an internal vetting process. Please review the process by clicking on the following link: Internal Vetting Process document. Only a limited number of candidates will receive Chair support.

Canada’s Family Physicians of the Year – Reg L. Perkin Award (CFPC) |
The nominee must be a CFPC member family physician in good standing. |

The nominee should be a renowned Canadian or international family medicine leader who has made outstanding, continuous, and enduring contributions to the discipline of family medicine in Canada or abroad. The nominee should be an excellent speaker. |

Nominees are restricted to non-members of the College, except for those who are “Associate” or “Affiliate” Specialist members of the College. |

Nominees for this award must be active family physician CFPC members who do not need to have received additional training in care of the elderly. Candidates can be nominated by their peers (family physicians, general practitioners), medical colleagues (e.g. geriatricians), non-medical colleagues (e.g. any allied health professionals), or patients (including patient’s family members). Membership in the CGS is not a requirement. |

DFCM Awards of Excellence
The awards recognize outstanding work by our faculty and staff. They acknowledge individuals or groups whose contributions go well beyond what is expected in advancing the department's mission. Winners of any given award will not be considered for re-nomination in the same category for 5 years. Re-working and re-submission of unsuccessful nominations in subsequent years is encouraged. Self nomination is also encouraged.
