Conference Theme: "Cancer Inequities at Home and Abroad in the Age of Migration: Roles for Primary Care"

The Cancer and Primary Care Research International Network (Ca-PRI) is a multidisciplinary network for researchers in primary cancer care and related areas. The goal of Ca-PRI is to promote greater international collaboration in primary care and cancer research. Ca-PRI welcomes researchers from all disciplines.

The 2019 conference will be hosted by the University of Toronto's Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) in beautiful Toronto, Canada from May 21-23, 2019 on the University of Toronto Campus. This is a unique opportunity for primary cancer care researchers to meet with others to promote greater international collaboration in primary care and cancer research.

The 2019 conference will feature keynote speakers, workshops and other unique highlights, including a welcome reception at the Toronto Aquarium, where presenters will face off in a "Shark Tank". Registration is now open. 

 

This year's conference has been accredited for 10.5 Mainpro+ credits with the College of Family Physcians of Canada.

Welcome Reception and "Shark Tank"

Have you seen the hit show “Shark Tank” and thought to yourself, you have an award winning pitch to give? Please join us at our Welcome Reception and “Shark Tank” on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the wonderful Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada. Participants will have the opportunity to mix and mingle among the intriguing aquatic creatures (including sharks) while voting for their favourite “Shark Tank” pitch. This event is free, however space is limited and only the first 65 people to register will be able to attend. Please note only those attending the 12th Annual Ca-PRI Conference are eligible to attend.

Do you have an elevator-style pitch on an innovation, or highlighting why your study/research is important? All attendees at the Welcome Reception will vote on the winning pitch. The winner will have the opportunity to present their pitch Wednesday, May 22, 2019 during the conference opening. Please submit your pitch below. All pitches submitted should be approximately 2 sentences (75 words maximum).  Only 4 of the submitted elevator pitches will be selected to present at the Welcome Reception. All submissions must be submitted by April 29, 2019.

Ca-PRI Conference Dinner 2019

We hope to see you at our Conference Dinner on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 for an evening of delicious food, music, and networking at University of Toronto’s Hart House. The Conference Dinner is not included in your registration fee and can be booked as a supplementary option.

The Ca-PRI Conference has reserved a block of rooms at Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville, located in the heart of downtown Toronto’s Yorkville neighbourhood. To receive conference rate, reservations must be made by April 25, 2019.

Interactive Poster Session FAQ

When and where is the Interactive Poster Session taking place?

On Wednesday, May 22, 2019, we will be holding the Ca-PRI Interactive Poster Session at Hart House from 5:00 – 6:30 PM.

I am presenting a poster, when am I supposed to set up my poster?

All posters must be set up between 3:00 – 5:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2019. All posters will be assigned a number that coincides with an assigned poster board space to hang your poster. You will receive your assigned poster number at registration.

What size poster will fit on the poster boards at the conference?

The maximum poster size for the 2019 Ca-PRI Conference 36 inches high by 48 inches wide (91 cm by 121 cm; 3 feet by 4 feet). Poster boards will be numbered and you will be assigned a number for your poster at registration. Please note that poster displays do not include tables. Any paper materials that you wish to distribute must be kept in hand. Business cards are a great idea.

What tools do I need to hang my poster?

All poster presenters will be provided with Velcro to hang their poster. Should you like to bring additional Velcro, you are more than welcome to do so.

When will I be presenting my poster?

Please have at least one author standing by your poster during the Interactive Poster Session (5:00 – 6:30 PM) to monitor the poster and interact with participants.

  1. Continue to ON-409 East.
  2. Take ON-427 South and Gardiner Expressway East to Harbour Street in Old Toronto, Toronto.
  3. Take the Bay Street exit from Gardiner Expressway East.
  4. Take York Street and University Avenue to Hart House Circle.

From Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport

  1. Head northwest on Eireann Quay.
  2. Follow Lake Shore Boulevard West to Lower Simcoe Street.
  3. Turn left onto Lower Simcoe Street.
  4. Take University Avenue to Wellesley Street West.
  5. Continue on Wellesley Street West Drive to Hart House Circle.

From the Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville Hotel

  1. Head West on Bloor Street East toward Yonge Street.
  2. Turn left onto Queens Park.
  3. Continue onto Queen’s Park Crescent West until you reach Hart House.

From the DoubleTree Hotel Toronto Downtown and the Chestnut Residence

  1. Head north on Chestnut Street toward Dundas Street West.
  2. Turn left onto Dundas Street West.
  3. Turn right onto University Avenue.
  4. Continue onto Queens Park.

From Toronto Pearson International Airport

  1. Take the UP Express Pearson Airport for 3 stops to Union Station.
  2. At Union Station, please take the Line 1 Subway in the direction of Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station for 4 stops to Queen’s Park Station.
  3. Exit the subway via the University and College exit. Continue onto Queen’s Park Crescent West.
  4. Turn right onto Hart House Circle.

From Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport

  1. Take the 509 Street Car from Queens Quay West at Bathurst Street East Billy Bishop Airport for 6 stops to Union Station.
  2. At Union Station, please take the Line 1 Subway in the direction of Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station for 4 stops to Queen’s Park Station.
  3. Exit the subway via the University and College exit. Continue onto Queen’s Park Crescent West.
  4. Turn right onto Hart House Circle.

From the Toronto Marriott Bloor Yorkville Hotel

  1. Exit the hotel and walk west to the Bloor-Yonge Subway Station.
  2. Take the Line 1 subway in the direction of Vaughan Metropolitan Centre Station for one stop to Wellesley Station.
